Love

It is the plot to almost every story, countless musicians sing about it, and it is the most sought after feeling by every individual in this world.  After all, everyone wants to love, and be loved.  It is almost certain that one hundred percent of the people in this world have experienced the feeling at one time.  According to Webster’s Dictionary, love is “the passion between the sexes; to like, to regard with affection.”  Love, a feeling like no other, can’t be clarified by a few words found in a dictionary.  Because every person has a different meaning of the word, it’s not fair to assume that the terminology in a dictionary is correct.  Taking all of this into consideration, what is love?

Love is a strong feeling of affection towards another person.  Whether it be defined as a strong feeling or attraction, humans recognize it as the most wonderful feeling in the world.  The indescribable joy one feels when in love is hard to write out in words.  In fact, love is so overwhelming that the English language doesn’t describe it as an emotion one feels, but as a state of being which sends the individual to an extraordinary destination separate from the rest of the world.  This person is directly transported to “La-La Land,” and hopes to stay in this place forever.

When one experiences love, he or she automatically notices the physical and emotional changes developing within the body.  The physical symptoms of love are the most noticeable signs of transformation.  Sweaty palms and rapid pulse are tell-tale signs of love.  An individual who is new to love maybe experience blushing cheeks and feelings of butterflies in the stomach when approaching the person they have feelings for.  As two individuals grow more comfortable with each other, the symptoms begin to fade.  Along with the physical reactions to love, there is also a very emotional side.  The heart makes a three hundred and sixty rotation when one is in love.  Emotional side effects include a state of happiness, euphoria, and completeness.  In fact, Tom Cruise said is best in Jerry McGuire, “You complete me.”

There are two main types of love.  One can love, without being in love.  This is called platonic love.  It is the love one has for a person, caring for that person so much that they would do anything for them.  One can love their friend, their relative, and even their pet.  The second type of love involves two people who love each other deeply.  This love is like no other love.  These two individuals care for each other so much that they would die for one another.  The love these people share for one another is what keeps them hoping and believing in life.  They know that they have found their one special person, their true love, who will bring them everything they every wanted out of life.

A few words from a dictionary won’t help anyone have a better understanding of what love really is.  After all, everyone has a different meaning of the word.  Whether it’s the feeling one gets in the pit of their stomach, the joy they feel when they cuddle with their pet, or the euphoria they experience when hugging their special someone, no other feeling can compare to it.  The only thing one needs in life is to love, and be loved.
